Out and about

The stunning surroundings are perfect for walking and cycling (bicycles are available to rent locally). We can advise on different routes and trails for all ability levels!

There’s also plenty of bird watching: we are in the only area where you can see all four kinds of European vultures, and there are guided tours available of the Valle de los Buitres (“Vulture Valley”).

The area is dotted with charming unspoilt villages: La Pobleta del Bellveí, Santa Engràcia, Rivert, Salas, Llimiana, and more. In the summer, every village has its fiesta mayor!

There are plenty of lakes (Sant Antoni, Montcortès…), rivers and waterfalls, making it ideal for all kinds of water sports: swimming, kayaking, rafting, canyoning and much more. There are also a number of swimming pools within easy reach. And, for the more adventurous amongst you, there is also climbing, horse riding and paragliding!

A few highlights…

One highly recommended tour is of the Castell d’Encús winery: not just any winery, but one that is exceptional combination of the old and the new. For example, some of its wine is still aged in the rock caves originally created for the same purpose by the Knights Templar.

In Senterada: La Fàbrica, a former textile mill offering guided tours and weaving and felt-making courses.

The Congost de Mont-Rebei: a spectacular gorge providing great hiking and kayaking opportunities.

The Aigüestortes i Estany de Sant Maurici National Park. Set high in the Pyrenees and ideal for both day trips and multi-day hikes. Perhaps a great way to spend a few days before or after your workshop.

Another option is the five-day hiking route El Cinquè Llac, going from B&B to to B&B across the local hills, using the old tracks (see a wee taster in the video below).
